A small group of 20 men got together in 1991 to create an organization where senior athletes would participate in competitive sports, and stay healthy and in better shape while remaining active. Softball was their initial target in wishing for a longer and healthier lifestyle. They forecasted that camaraderie, being part of a team, competitive activity, and a socially supportive community would create both physical and mental health benefits.
As in many groups, some of these pioneers looked exclusively for opportunities for heated competition, achievement, and trophies, but all the while not losing sight of the core mission of MCSSA
